VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 06/05/08) - Judson Press announces the May 2008
release of Those Preaching Women: A Multicultural Collection.

Edited by Ella Pearson Mitchell and Valerie Bridgeman Davis, the
collection is the fifth title in the series, "Those Preaching Women,"
which saw its first volume published in 1985. While previous editions
were dedicated to sermons of African American women in various
denominations and ministries, this resource uniquely reflects the rich
ethnic diversity of 21st century America by including the voices of
African American, Cuban, Native American, European American, Puerto
Rican, South Korean, South Vietnamese, and West Indian women.

In each exemplary sermon, these women communicate how human needs and
concerns cross social, class, ethnic, and racial divides. Messages cover
the full canon of Scripture, addressing a variety of themes, including
hope, justice, relationships, and peace. Respected preacher and scholar
Katie G. Cannon writes in the book's foreword: "These thirty-two women
preachers offer us sermons that expand our horizons and enliven our
souls. . . . Each sermon is intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually
demanding ."

The outstanding group of contributors includes two American Baptists.
Elizabeth Conde-Frazier is associate professor of religious education at
the Claremont School of Theology and a teacher at the Latin American
Bible Institute in La Puente, Calif. Loida Martell-Otero is associate
professor of constructive theology at Palmer Theological Seminary,
Philadelphia, Pa. For a complete list of contributors, visit the Judson
Press Web site.

Brought together by the "dean of black women preachers," Rev. Dr. Ella
P. Mitchell, the sermons in Those Preaching Women constitute a treasure
trove certain to inspire and challenge.
