VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 06/06/08) - Charles Primavera, the American
Baptist Historical Society's (ABHS) office manager, retired May 9. Known
by any who sought information from the Historical Society, he responded
to phone calls, replied to emailed material requests and oversaw donor
giving.

Previously retired from the Air Force, Primavera has worked with ABHS
since 2001, handling the day-to-day transactions for the Society as well
as special projects, such as the creation of the ABHS website at
www.baptisthistory.us. He was also responsible for designing up-to-date
and easy to understand accounting reports and setting up the Society's
web-based development program.

In addition, he was key in managing the business side of the Society's
consolidation in Atlanta, Ga., working with ABHS archivist Betty Layton,
who has coordinated the professional move of the collections, and
volunteer move coordinator Art Munson, himself retired from the staff at
the Valley Forge Mission Center.

"We are grateful for all his work and his willingness to stay with ABHS
through our moving process," said Dr. Van Broekhoven.

A die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and a lover of golf, he looks
forward to more trips with his grandchildren to Disney World.

Like many Mission Center retirees, Primavera will continue his support
of the Historical Society. He has agreed to continue his business
management of the Society's journal, The American Baptist Quarterly, and
attendees just might see him at the 2009 Biennial in Pasadena, serving
as the ABHS Biennial meeting manager.

While the new ABHS offices in Atlanta are getting up and running, a
temporary office at Valley Forge has been created for the remainder of
2008. Messages may be left at 610-768-2269.
